Sam Upton -
Mick

In the independent film The Five Stages of Beer, Colorado native Sam Upton portrays Mick Jones – the romantic lead who is both lucky and unlucky at love.
Says Upton of his feature film debut, "This guy Mick is the ultimate player, but in the end he is the one who gets played. It’s quite refreshing. Working on Five Stages has been the best experience for me, so far, in this business."
Since wrapping The Five Stages of Beer earlier this year, Upton has landed roles in a Fox Searchlight film and a Theory of a Dead Man music video. The actor portrays the role of Ken-Doll in Certainly Not a Fairytale, and he is the Romantic Hero in the MV for Theory’s upcoming single.
Prior to his film and TV roles, Upton received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Dave Barnhardt in the comedic play Messin’ with Destiny which ran for several months at The Actor’s Forum Theater in Los Angeles. Upton was likened to a young John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever and received an Artistic Director Achievement Award [ADAA] Nomination for Lead Actor in a Comedy. Prior to Messin’ with Destiny, his stage credits included: Twelfth Night; The Odyssey; Golden Boy; True West; Lone Star; Death of a Salesman; and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel.
Upton is also professional Jazz Drummer. The actor/musician often performs with his father (Brad Upton of The Brad Upton Quartet) at nightclubs around the world, including hotspots in Berlin, Texas, New York, Colorado, and Los Angeles. On the Black Orchid Music label, Upton played drums on the CDs Black Orchid and Connections – both with his father.
Sam Upton was born in New York City; however, he moved with his family to Boulder, Colorado at the age of four. He grew-up in a close-knit family and later attended Colorado University. He relocated to Los Angeles in the late ‘90s.
